ABOUT US
Indivisible One New Jersey (IONJ) is a coalition of local grassroots Indivisible groups who work in collaboration to amplify our voices and increase our power through collective action and shared resources. We include over 40 groups statewide. To
find a group in your area, you can search by zip code here.
The focus of Indivisible One NJ (IONJ) is on working with its constituent local groups, but we also work with a host of other organizations and coalitions across New Jersey. Particularly important are organizations and coalitions involved in the main issue areas of interest to IONJ (see the Vision and Missions tab) and organizations representing Black, Indigenous, and Peopleof Color. For more, see the tab on Allies and Coalitions.
In addition to its work within NJ, IONJ and its constituent local groups work closely with the national office of Indivisible
OUR VISION
We are committed to achieving social and economic justice, fairness, and protecting democracy and the environment. While engaging, informing, and activating our communities, we will also work to hold state and federal candidates and elected officials accountable for their stances and actions.
Our issue areas:
-
Democracy protection and reform
-
Economic justice
-
Racial justice
-
Women’s and reproductive rights
-
LGBTQ rights
-
Healthcare
-
Environment
-
Education
-
Immigration
-
Criminal justice and police reform
-
Gun violence prevention
To further our work, we do the following:
● Foster connections among Indivisible groups in the state to share resources and perspectives on issues of common concern
● Work collaboratively to lobby U.S. Senators and Congressional representatives and the state governor and state legislators.
● Participate in electoral work with the aim of supporting more progressive candidates in state and federal elections
● Engage in public outreach efforts such as hosting public forums and working with traditional and social media.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
-
Moving NJ Senators and Congressional Representatives to actively and publicly oppose the Trump agenda rather than taking the advice of some pundits that Democrats should play possum till Trump overreached.
-
Andy Kim Endorsement for U.S. Senate: Through a process of engagement with IONJ group members, IONJ issued an early endorsement of Andy Kim to be the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senator that gave him early momentum.
-
Fair Ballot Alliance coalition work: IONJ with its coalition partners provided crucial grass-roots support for the court decision that led to invalidation of the county line party endorsement system. This system had allowed party bosses to control the party nomination process and choke off progressive voices. The court decision has reduced party machine control of the nomination process and created a fairer ballot for NJ primary elections.
OUR DEI STATEMENT
Guided by the principles of inclusivity and equity, we strive to ensure that every voice is heard and valued in the pursuit of a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
